Whew! We completed the first full week of school! I hope your student had a productive first week and is getting back into the swing of the school routine. Below are a few things for this week:
FLEX TIME Tomorrow is our third day with block schedule (times listed under the "calendar" tab) and FLEX time. During FLEX time tomorrow students will learn what it is, what the NEW Spartan voted name will be (crossing fingers for "SPAR"), and how to log into the system to "request" teachers. FLEX time is: a time for students to get the support in classes that they need help in, for teachers to offer interventions and help for kids. Students that typically remain in the LRCII classroom throughout the school day will be "requested" by me to stay in Room 2306 during FLEX time. If the student is NOT requested by me, then the student's schedule will automatically place the student in his/her 1st period class on Tuesday's and 6th period class on Wednesday's. If you have more questions regarding FLEX time and how it impacts your student, please feel free to contact me (contact information under "get in touch" tab). NOTE: Curriculum Night starts at 6pm with the Keynote Speaker in the theater. There will be a Club Fair (time to learn about the different clubs at Skyline) from 5:30-6:00 pm. You are welcome to come early to learn about different clubs (like LEAP club). Hope to see you at Curriculum Night! Have a great week! Mrs. H :) P.S. Look out for an e-mail and post later this week regarding Homecoming NEXT WEEK! Hello families!
We are off and running with the 2019-2020 school year! The first 3 days were a tad bit crazy with getting back into the routine of things and grasping the new 7 period schedule. Next week will bring some more new things--block schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday with FLEX time and finalizing student schedules. For a complete run-down of daily schedule times, please refer to the "Calendar" tab on the top of this page. Some important events to know about: Curriculum Night--September 19, 2019 5:30pm to 8:45pm Keynote speaker, information about Skyline clubs, and meet your student's teachers! During 'teacher time' I share my vision for the school year and the opportunities we hope to provide for your student to grow and succeed. You don't want to miss this! Homecoming! Sept. 27, 2019 (football game); Sept. 28, 2019 (dance) The LRCII program and LEAP club (more on this later...) usually host an extended evening in Rm. 2306 to include dinner, pictures, and socialization prior to the dance starting. If you would like to help during this event, please contact me. (Contact information is provided under the "Get In Touch" tab at the top of this page.) This is one of the most exciting events for our students and they get some exercise from dancing too! And lastly.... I want to thank you for sharing your student with me. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be at Skyline for my 2nd year teaching high school and look forward to sharing a FABULOUS, Spartan-rific year with all of you!!! All my best, Mrs. H (aka Mrs. Hummell or Ms. Renee) P.S. STAY TUNED for another post about vocational opportunities that are in store for our class this school year. |
